My first year as a second grade teacher, I had an awesome high school student for my teacher's assistant. I had the privilege of watching her learn and grow, one of the many benefits of being a teacher. She has since graduated and is now engaged and is getting married on Sunday! I can't wait to see them exchange their vows. We had so much fun with the session. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of butter
2 cups of carrots
2 cups of celery
1/2 medium onion
1 rotisserie chicken
2 49.5-ounce cans of chicken broth
1 26 ounce can of cream of chicken soup
1 16 ounce bag of extra wide egg noodles
In a large dutch oven, melt a tablespoon of butter with a tablespoon of olive oil. |
Dice half of an onion. |
When the butter has melted, add the onions. Stir with love :) |
Dice carrots....and celery. |
(pretend this is chopped) |
Add carrots and celery to the pot and season with salt and pepper. I'll let you be the judge of how much you add. |
Pour in the chicken broth. |
No sense in making your own chicken when the rotisserie chicken you can buy at the store is so delicious. My mouth is watering. |
Pull the chicken off the bone and shred it. Some of you may like big chunks of chicken, some of you may want small dices. You decide this part. |
Yes. You're seeing this correctly. Pour the juices from the chicken right into the pot. |
Stir with love. |
Add the cream of chicken soup. This makes the soup taste more like chicken and dumplings. Omit it if you don't like delicious, creamy soup. It's up to you ;) |
Ooops. How did this get in here? He was a little mad if you can't tell from the scratches on his face. He's happy now! Let the soup simmer for 45 minutes. |

Photography
I love photography. It all started with a girlfriend of mine, Allison Barker. I tell people that she's the "real deal". She spent 4 years at Northern Arizona University studying photography and is quite talented. in the past few years I have actually started picking up the camera and taking my own pictures. This blog is a way for me to showcase my work to you. I hope you enjoy them and will consider me to be your next photographer!
The pictures below are of one of my best friends, Nikki. She's so special to me. I was privileged to take her maternity pictures for baby #2, Deacon. I can't wait to meet him!
Her oldest, Mason, is two and a half years old and loves dinosaurs. He spends most of his days roaring. He wasn't a big fan of having pictures taking of himself but I managed to get one good one, after which he declared, "I did it!"

A New Blog
I asked myself what I should do today. I'm sure that's a question most stay at home moms ask themselves. I have a way of always finding something to do but today I was completely drawing a blank. So I thought, well I might as well start a blog today. So here I am, sitting on my family room floor, next to my 4 month old on my laptop writing. King of Queens on and in the background the music of Rowen's play-mat permeating the air and my husband wondering aimlessly around the house trying to figure out where "that smell" is coming from. Are you familiar with my situation?
